Oksana, 42
“My name is Oksana and I am 42 years old. At the time the war started, I was in charge of 8 clothes shops in Ukraine. I decided to leave Harkiv and my business on the 11th of March 2022, to start a 5 day jouney to Copenhagen. When I arrived, I slept for a week. By March 27th, my flat complex was bombed. I no longer have a home or business in Ukraine. Harkiv has been totally destroyed. It has caused me so much stress and sadness. The news continues to be sad. But I am happy in Denmark. I want to stay and start a business here. My 20 year old son was studying foreign relations in Ukraine but was allowed to leave for Germany because he is a student. My parents still live 18km from Harkiv. They want to leave too because the situation is so bad, but it is very hard to uproot yourself and leave when you are old.”
